According to DR BURBULES,the school is no longer an isolated unit of formal, systematic education, but the central core from where students collaborate with one another in a new ubiquitous kind of learning sharing the information not only provided there but also in the different social and digital sites where they every day move;thus, making the process much more social with an interest to participate in other students' learning.

ResponderEliminarI agree that school has seemed to be an isolated unit of formal, systematic education for a long time, in spite of all the reforms it has "suffered" many times. We, teachers, are always trying to refresh and reform our teaching. This new kind of teaching and learning looks not as a threat but as a new challenge. I think that learning is happening almost everywhere all the time, but we are not conscious of it. We should make a good use of ubiquitous learning. How? Not rejecting new technologies, collaborating with each other, learning and teaching together, sharing experiences, but first of all, having an open mind.
ResponderEliminar"Ubiquitous learning" means that learning (esp. with technology and wireless connectivity)is no longer an experience that is limited to formal education institutions. Now,learning is happening in many places(home, work place).
ResponderEliminarFor young people, with the mobility and portability of these devices, LEARNING TAKES PLACE ANYTIME AND EVERYWHERE.
This new kind of learning is transferred to other people in the sense that learning is no longer an isolated thing. It is a collaborative activity that is shared between teachers and students. It is a community working together, sharing experiences online and feeling that they are not alone in this process. Even teachers can share lesson plans and can decide whether some things have worked for them or not. I think this new trend is going to make things easier once we teachers get used to working this way and learning will bemuch more profitable both for teachers and learners.
ResponderEliminarStudents are all the time learning. Informal education is more and more important everyday. Students are exposed to a lot of sources of information due to new technology. So the school has to take this information to the classroom and exploit it, especially when working with adolescents. The school is the only context adolescents share. The other contexts of education are all different.
ResponderEliminarIt´s important to give students the opportunity to investigate and study what is happening, and it´s also important to look for new ways of learning that allow students to work together and to change the other contexts. Dr Burbules says that we should rethink school activities in relation to what is happening in other contexts of informal education and take what the students are learning outside to the classroom.
